GastroJax wants to give the next generation a food education whenever we can. To further our mission, this past summer we brought in The Art Institute of Jacksonville’s Chef Noel Ridsdale to teach the teen moms in foster care at Children’s Home Society of Florida how to make a pasta sauce from fresh ingredients. CHSFL teaches them life skills, including those in the kitchen. Each student will receive a set of culinary tools from GastroJax, so they may continue their culinary education. We hope that by learning to cook with fresh ingredients, these girls will pass on this knowledge to the next generation, not just nurturing their own children with food, but also with a sense of community that only food can bring.
