Here at GastroFest, we embrace different kinds of eating. Most of the selections at a tasting fest like ours tend to be omnivore in nature. We’ve gathered all the vegan selections together so that you’ll know who to hit, where they’ll be, and when, if you are looking for plant-based options on March 23rd at Friendship Fountain and the MOSH!

Since plant-based selections have less of a carbon footprint, to reward those fest-goers committed to Greening GastroFest, there’s a hashtag campaign with a chance to win rewards for greening the fest. Anyone posting a picture of a plant-based selection on social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) with the hashtag #greeninggastrofest gets a chance to win one of our Greening GastroFest prizes (see below)!

11 a.m. Bee Friends Farm Workshop + Sample, $12

Each guest will receive their own tasting plate with a full range of Florida honey samples. The Bee Friends Farm beekeeper will take you through the bloom cycle in Florida and you’ll be able to taste the differences in the varietals. Not  Vegan, of course! 1 p.m. Composting with Earthworms

A free, short workshop on earthworms and composting from Apple Rabbit Composting. Great for kids and adults! Wells Fargo Community Conference Room. FREE

1 p.m.  Kailo Nutrition’s Heather Boarder always makes plant-based food fun and delicious on the Sawyer Gas Demo Stage. FREE

2 p.m. Eat Your Yard Jax, $5

Want to transform your yard into something you can eat? Eat Your Yard Jax has been helping homeowners do just that for years! The owner will be there to share tips and tricks, as well as info on hiring the service to help you get your edible garden started. Tickets will be available at the door and ahead of time at the info tent (we recommend buying at the info tent ahead of time). Cash only. Wells Fargo Community Conference Room.

5 p.m. Nature’s Drip Cafe, a plant- based, completely Vegan, HEALTHY Coffee and Doughnut venue will take the Sawyer Gas Demo Stage. FREE

5:30 p.m. VEGAN WINE TASTING WITH ZEN BUTCHER COMPANY
Try a flight of four wines, two red, two white, along with vegan fare from The Zen Butcher Company! Only a limited amount of tickets are available as usual.

What makes a wine vegan? You’ll find out! Not all wines are, surprisingly. A GastroFest favorite is back again this year, this time at the Wells Fargo Room of the Museum of Science & History, Jacksonville. GastroFest strives to hold a more ecologically and responsible festival than the previous year.

  • Zero Waste Stations: We’ve added two zero waste stations, and our green partners will help us grow every year.
  • Apple Rabbit Compost: They’re back again and helping us compost our pre-fest food waste from restaurants. 
  • Transportation: Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) will open the Skyway on March 23rd from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. for festival attendees. Bike valet service from Zen Cog will also be available. Taking a car? Grab some friends and carpool!
  • #GreeningGastroFest: Win at GastroFest for going green! Use #GreeningGastroFest on your social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter) to win a number of prizes from our sponsors, including  gift cards to Orsay, Foo Dog Curry Traders, Treylor Park, Murray’s Taco Bodega and a swag bag from Girls Gone Green, Earth Fare.
